Firewall Products
Cisco has been producing the firewall for years, and in previous years it was marketed under the name PIX. With the advent of Cisco technology, a new device that had all the capabilities of PIX, and in addition to that added new ones, was launched under the name Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA).
ASA firewalls come in many sizes and shapes, but they all have the same capabilities. A device with a lower model number is usually lower powered. The model number of these devices starts with 55, are devices from the ASA family that install on switches like 6500 or virtual environments.
